System Migration
System and Data Migration.
System migration is the process of transferring business processes and IT resources to a newer hardware infrastructure or a different software platform for the purpose of keeping up with current technologies and/or to gain better business value. Data migration involves transporting data between computers, storage devices or formats. Data migration is categorized as storage migration, database migration, application migration and business process migration.
When the migration only involves data and software, the move can be automated using migration software. Automated data migration minimizes human intervention and application downtime and enhances migration speed, compatibility and overall performance.
How it is done.
- Planning, migration and validation are key to effective data migration. Planning requires a clear understanding of design requirements, such as scheduling, replication requirements, hardware requirements, data volume and data value. Once data migration is complete, an organization validates statistics to determine data accuracy. Finally, data cleaning facilitates improve data quality via the removal of unnecessary or repetitive data.
- As a software company that majors on customizing solutions for our clients, we first assess their current processes, storage devices among others. We endeavor to understand our clients’ pain of using their current business processes and thereby establish the need for them clients to transition to newer and or better technologies. To do this, we gather requirements, on their preferred business process, advise and or improve their proposed plan. We then draft a road map on how to execute the above strategy and ensure fast, and quality project delivery.
Projects we have worked upon.
- EOC is Equal Opportunities Commission, we successfully migrated data and transitioned them from a manual filing system to an online filing system under a project known as E-Complaint 2.
The commission formerly opened manual (paper) complaint files for each individual/institution (client) who desired to express their dissatisfaction on discrimination on the basis of gender, age, race, religion, disability color, nationality among others. The commission contracted us on the 7th October, 2019, to migrate all their manual files (over 1000 files) to an already existing digital complaint platform that was developed by us. We then scanned all the documents, verified them and later on migrated them to E-complaint 1.
